These experiences have shaped me into an “internationalist.” Although retired, I remain deeply engaged with global developments that impact us all.

A Diplomatic Life

Although both countries share a long common border, Canada and the United States are fundamentally different societies. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the communications and campaigning styles of Justin Trudeau and Donald Trump in their respective 2015 and 2016 campaigns. This book analyzes each leaders's communications personalities, key messaging, and vision for their country. It also analyzes the personalities of core voters in both countries and why each leader was elected. We have seen the conclusions of each leader's communications strategies over the past five years, and this book will help readers understand why they communicate certain messages in certain ways, and why each has been successful despite their having diametrically opposing messages and styles.
